The Beatles Are Here! looks at the profound effect this legendary band's arrival had on those of us who were here at the time (as well as a couple who weren't yet born). It combines written texts by such writers as Joe Queenan, Pico Iyer, and Gay Talese with extensive interviews with others witnesses, "Cousin Brucie" Morrow, Fran Lebowitz, and Renée Fleming among them.

You could say I came to the subject organically -- I'm the screaming girl in the center of the photograph on the book's cover -- an iconic image that's been published around the world. A few years ago, in a moment of true, Internet-era kismet, one of the girls (Vickie, on my right) contacted me. I had not even known her name before, but as a result of the photograph we've now become friends (and have a surprising amount in common).

Our stories, along with those of two of the other girls in the photograph, as well as of some other, die-hard Beatlemaniacs are yet another element in The Beatles Are Here!
